The Kano Model for Product Development

Today, I learned about the Kano Model, which categorizes product features into “basic” and “attractive” types. This helps prioritize features that truly enhance customer satisfaction. A cool framework for thinking strategically about product roadmaps!

The person telling me this (Thomas from Exvomo had a rather great example: 40 years ago in Europe, if you would’ve bought a car, you would have gotten a set of standard features: a heating, a manual way of sliding down the windows etc. What was considered luxury back then was air conditioning and electric windows. These features would have sealed the deal.

Now, our world has changed and what was luxury back then is now standard. What is the next level of luxury? What can seal the deal for customers in our time?
