Proxmox Improvements & Plex transcoding
Having just started my journey into Proxmox land, I only just now discovered that there is a GitHub repo with scripts, ready-made to optimize Proxmox and install various software.
The most important ones to run for me were:
- Post install as it removes the nag screen and sets up some repos correctly.
- Microcode Update as I haven’t done any microcode update in quite a while. Though, it turns out there wasn’t any for my cpu.
The key to all of this was stumbling over Derek Seaman’s Tech Blog, while being on the search for Plex hardware transcoding gpu passthrough methods.
Of course, I got completely distracted and dove into his blog. He has superb articles e.g., this one for setting up Home Assistant using Proxmox.
I also stumbled over a rather fresh thread on reddit about
/dev/dri
which
might be useful once I get to it.
Of course, Tao Of Mac also has something to say about Plex hardware transcoding.
But instead of working on that Plex topic, I rather looked through more ProxmoxVE community scripts 😅
